Why Ergomo?

Integration with CyclingPeaks
In our experience as coaches, successful power training and racing athletes have made in an investment in learning how to analyze, understand and use their data. CyclingPeaks is the gold standard software for the analysis of power files. The Ergomo's ErgoRacer software is in fact CyclingPeaks with additional features to allow you to download data and configure your monitor from your PC. To put it simply, this close interaction between your powermeter and CyclingPeaks brings you several steps closer to actually analyzing and understanding your data.

Pro Power screen
This relationship is further enhanced in the Ergomo Pro. It's Pro Power screen displays your Intensity Factor (IF), Normalized Watts (Pnorm) and Training Stress Score (TSS).

  • Are you pacing this time trial correctly? Just pull up your Intensity Factor and see at what percentage of your Functional Threhsold you're riding.
  • Current watts? Check. Average watts? Check. Normalized watts? Right there in front of you, in real time.
  • Training Stress Score (TSS) is a measurement of the "training dose" you've applied to your body, as function of intensity and volume. We've seen great success with our athletes by closely tracking this number, rather than miles or hours in the saddle.

Simple
Have you ever knocked your Powertap sensor out of alignment while changing a flat in a race? Ever made a trip to Home Depot to find extra large o-rings or epoxy to glue your SRM sensor to a non-standard frame? No more!

The Ergomo simply threads into your frame, replacing the bottom bracket. Two wires run out of the bottom bracket. The short one is the speed sensor and mounts on the left chainstay. The long one runs up the downtube and plugs into the monitor, mounted on your bars.

Train or Race with Any Wheelset
Within days of training with power you quickly grasp it's potential as a pacing tool, especially valuable for triathletes and time trialists. However, athletes have been forced to make some compromises:

  • Want power but also race wheels? Either purchase two Powertaps, one built into a training wheel and another built into a race wheel, or purchase one compromise system that you use for both purposes, perhaps adding an aero wheelcover. This later solution is one we've used with our athletes for years. However, each option requires a decision about wheels, spokes, etc.
  • Do you want to race with that $$$ disk and not compromise? SRM is your only solution, at $2300-3600 for the system. Ouch!

No more compromises! The Ergomo replaces your bottom bracket, just like the SRM replaces your cranks, at a fraction of the price. Ride any wheels you want!

Set Up Two Bikes for About the Price of One SRM
Do you train on two bikes? Purchase an additional powermeter/bottom bracket for your second bike. Your Ergomo Pro monitor stores the unique configurations of up to 99 different bikes. Simply move the monitor back and forth between bikes, telling it which bike it's on. Never train or race without power again!

The Bottomline:
The Ergomo occupies the middle pricing ground between Powertap and SRM. It does everything these units do, and more, justifying the upgrade from the Powertap and making it very difficult to justify the significant additional expense of the SRM.
