Metabolic Testing
We use the results of metabolic testing to develop personal heart-rate training zones for each athlete. Precisely knowing VO2 Max, lactate threshold, and aerobic threshold increases the effectiveness of training. Repeat testing enables athletes and coaches to monitor the effectiveness of training and make modifications when required. This test not only shows where your personal zones are set, but helps to uncover the "why" behind where they are.

Physiological testing and interpretation can:

  • Identify specific physiological indices that influence performance
  • Identify specific calorie needs during exercise
  • Identify an athlete's physiological strengths and weaknesses
  • Allow athletes and coaches to make informed decisions about training schedules
  • Provide a truly individualized training program
  • Help prevent injury and over training.

Sports Nutrition
Daily dietary and race/training evaluation by Crucible Fitness Nutritionist, Ellen Coleman

  • 60 minute consultation involving evaluation of past nutritional habits thru dietary logs previously filled out and/or through the logs on Training Peaks website for coached athletes.
  • Nutritional breakdown of specific athlete's energy needs.
  • Discussion of past dietary race habits and results and plan for future dietary race plans.
  • Education on nutrition for optimal recovery.
  • Once weekly email correspondence for 4 weeks following consultation through athlete's initiation.
Sports Nutrition Counseling $175

 

Structural and Muscular Analysis
A complete body analysis with Dr. Mike Donia, DC, Crucible Fitness Coach and former pro triathlete, to determine structural imbalances and recommend injury preventative measures. Range of Motion (ROM) testing, typically reserved to injury rehabilitation, is especially useful prior to the season to obtain information on an athlete's degree of flexibility, to detect any deficiencies in bilateral symmetry, and to identify musculoskeletal restrictions that could lead to injury.
